New Clubs.

I had been using Mrs. Patrick's old golf clubs the past few weeks. But yesterday, we bought my first brand new set of clubs! I was pretty excited about it and I think they look and work very well. We tested them out at one of the golf courses in Lake Las Vegas yesterday. It was fun to play a new course and such a scenic one as well. However, I found this course to be more difficult than the New Castle one and I lost quite a few golf balls...it's a good thing we had purchased them on sale.

Not a very exciting week.

After last week's very busy and hectic schedule, this week has seemed quite boring. However, it is nice for things to slow down and for us to collect ourselves before the next rush. We have been staying up in New Castle at Joe's parents house since Wednesday - we had some meetings at that office and we will be leaving for Vegas tomorrow morning and thought it would be better to just take one car to the airport.

It has been nice being in New Castle - we golfed both Wednesday night as well as last night. I am slowly improving and still enjoying playing very much.

Chicago.

Our weekend in Chicago was great! We had wonderful weather which made the weekend all the more enjoyable. After our run on Saturday, we showered and then had a very tasty lunch at The Gage. Then we played the most hellish course of miniature golf that I have ever experienced - there weren't windmills or clowns to challenge us, but it seemed as though their was a ridge around the hole rejecting the ball...or at least mine.

That night we went to a comedy show called "Bye Bye Liver" - basically a skit/interactive show that was very entertaining. Brunch is a popular thing in Chicago so Katie wanted us to experience it. We went to Uncommon Ground where we had bowl-sized lattes and delicious pancakes and eggs. We left full and went off to explore the Wrigleyville area. We capped off our trip by bowling at Southport Lanes - an old bowling alley where your ball is returned and the pins are set up by an employee. Amazing weekend!

We're leaving on a jet plane....

...and headed to Chicago to visit Katie this memorial day weekend. We are currently at the airport waiting for our flight. This afternoon we are going to go on an architectual boat cruise to see the city before a pasta party at my sister's apartment. She and I will be running the Soldier Field 10 mile run on Saturday morning and will need the carbs so we can have a good race! It should be a good weekend!

Penguins game!

Joe got me tickets to the Penguins hockey tickets for my birthday! This was the second game of the eastern conference finals (semi-finals of the Stanley Cup) against the Carolina Hurricanes. It was a very exciting game and the Pens ended up winning 7-4!

A late mother's day.

I celebrated Mother's Day yesterday with my mom and mom-in-law yesterday. Joe was off on a business meeting in California so it was a good day for a girl day. We started off with lunch at Cafe at the Frick - a nice garden setting for some al fresco eating. Then we went to Phipps to see the new glass exhibit. It was our first time there since the wedding and it was nice to tour the conservatory without having the pressure of planning an event. We relaxed at the house before heading to dinner at Bravo's.

My mom stayed the night instead of heading back to Cleveland late last night. I decided to take her on a walk along the waterfront on the North Shore - it's a trail I frequently run and wanted to share it with her. Here are some pictures:

Reporting a Theft!

Somebody stole our beautiful hanging basket of petunias last night. I can see a large foot print in the soil in front of our porch so I'm am assuming the the thief was male wearing approximately a size 12. I doubt this will be enough evidence to catch the stealing **expletive**...

On a better note, I fixed the coffee maker this morning!

Humane Society.

After work, Joe and I stopped at the humane society to just look at the dogs. There were lots of dogs to look at (mainly pit bull mixes) - it was sad to see them all without homes. As we strolled by the cages, two younger ones caught our eye. The two were very cute and had a calm demeanor (not barking wildly as we passed), which is definitely a quality we would look for. While we don't plan to get one just yet, it does make it all the more tempting...

Very funny.

I'd suggest watching the other trunk monkey videos as well!

Architect.

Joe and I have a meeting with an architect today! I don't think we had mentioned before that we are planning on building our new home. It's very exciting to get to go through the whole process from scratch and we'll get to have everything to our specifications and style. More to come later...

I should probably lift my hat up a bit so I can see...

Golf update.

We have played 18 holes each of the past two days. To me, that's a lot of golf! On Friday, I only played the holes that seemed easy. I avoided playing the holes with water to protect myself from alligator attacks and to lose fewer balls. Alas, I still lost 6 balls that day...

There weren't many people on the course today and I ended up playing (driving and then moving my ball to the fairway when needed) 17 of the 18! I played better and was proud of my endurance in playing that many holes as well as only losing 1 ball!
